Blooming Prairie Country Club

What a FUN project! My long-time friend and fellow PGA Member, Aaron Ressler went back home to Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, where his family owned a little bowling alley. The nine-hole public course in town—Blooming Prairie Country Club—was in trouble because its lease was running out and it was about to lose the land where four of the nine existing golf holes were located. The club leadership found some adjoining land north and south of the existing property, and I was able to merge together the remaining golf holes with a new design—and do it all with a minimal budget. We had everything from the local farmers working as the golf course construction crew to the local high school team picking rocks out of the new fairways. It’s one of the designs I’m the most proud of, and I love going back every year.
